Deltopia more destructive than past years

NewsChannel 3 has uncovered some new videos from the massive spring break party in Isla Vista.
They show a very different side to Deltopia. The record crowds did a lot of damage.
Now, even people who live in Isla Vista are looking for ways to scale back next year's event.
Students said the spring break party started as a locals only event.
But it has attracted a lot of attention, and a lot of people. Videos show a very destructive and dangerous Deltopia 2013. In one, a dancing girl smashes through the back window of a car, before running away. In another, a man is shown jumping from a roof into a hot tub.
Those trying to protect the partygoers, believe this year's crowd did more damage than year's past.
Nearly twenty thousand people showed up.
Many blame social media sites for drawing such large crowds. Now videos like the one of a Sheriff's Deputy in the middle of a chase to catch a suspect, are showing up on those same websites.
The officer eventually caught up with 22-year old Emanual Perez-Soto.
"The deputy ultimately did take him into custody, and was punched in the process by the suspect," said Sheriff Bill Brown
Soto is a junior at San Diego State.
He is now facing charges for resisting arrest and battery on a peace officer.
Many locals blame the out of town crowd for causing the most trouble.
"They're not used to the scene here and they don't know how to handle themselves," said Isla Vista resident, Sebastian Balough.
"I think it makes it what it is. It just needs to be a little more controlled," added Isla Vista resident, Andrew Seif.
Law enforcement agencies agreed.
"The large numbers of people, who did not show respect for each other, or to the safety personnel or to the community at large," said Sheriff Brown.
But officials plan to crack down on the event next year.
"we're going to have to be provided with more resources," said Sheriff Brown.
According to the Sheriff's Department, there were 23 arrests during this year's event.
Officials said the majority of those involved people from out of the area.
