Brittany Silverstein joined KCOY in June 2012. She is thrilled to be covering the Central Coast and to be welcomed into such a great community.
During her time at KCOY, Brittany has performed a wide variety of duties, including producing the annual Santa Maria Christmas Parade of Lights special for the last two years. She has also enjoyed getting out in the community outside of work, most recently serving as a guest judge at the Cambria Scarecrow Festival. In addition to producing, she also reports for her weekly entertainment segment called “Friday Film Focus” that airs on Wake Up Central Coast every Friday.
Brittany graduated magna cum laude from California State University, Northridge where she majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Political Science. She was heavily involved in the campus's radio and TV news programs. Her piece on “Distracted Driving” at KCSN News earned her a Mark of Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. During her time at CSUN, she also worked for KABC in Los Angeles for nearly three years, starting as an intern then getting hired on as a News Apprentice/Traffic Producer. There, she learned the basics of journalism and got the opportunity to cover many big events, including the Conrad Murray Trial and the Academy Awards.
When Brittany isn't working, she enjoys hiking, yoga, watching movies, and experiencing all of the beauty the Central Coast has to offer. If you have any story ideas or just want to say “hi”, follow her on Twitter at @britsilverstein or on Facebook (KCOY Brittany Silverstein)
