Mabrisa Rodriguez is an Emmy-nominated Producer and fill-in Weather Anchor at KEYT, KCOY and KKFX. She is a Santa Barbara native. She graduated from Santa Barbara High School and went on to attend U.C. Santa Barbara as a Psychology major. After two years at UCSB, Mabrisa decided to switch her major from Psychology to Journalism.
She attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she obtained her degree in Journalism and Media Studies as an honors student. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree Mabrisa attended the prestigious Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara for one summer where she took collegiate courses in Spanish.
Mabrisa is fluent in both English and Spanish. She was then hired in Las Vegas as an Associate Producer at KVVU. After nearly three years at the station Mabrisa left Nevada to move back to California. She was hired as a Producer and wears dual hats as a writer and soon-to-be Meteorologist.
One of her biggest accomplishments at the station included producing the 11 p.m. news. It quickly became the most-watched newscast for that time period during the May 2012 ratings book. Mabrisa is currently matriculating at Mississippi State University to obtain her Meteorological Certification through the Broadcast and Operational Meteorology Program. She has forecasted everything including: fires, hurricanes, record-breaking heat and rain.
Mabrisa is thrilled to be home with her family and enjoys helping out her communities. She is also an award-winning Screenwriter. Mabrisa is a proud member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
