Ty Warner Center-Underwater Parks Day

Published On: Jan 19 2013 06:00:00 AM CST   Updated On: Jan 29 2013 06:05:20 AM CST

This weekend the Ty Warner Center invited the young and old to watch the feeding of the sharks in celebration of California's Underwater Parks Day. It was standing room only for kids and their families. It's been a year since legislation called for Marine Protected Areas in Southern California.

Marine experts say threatened ocean ecosystems will now hopefully thrive. There are four MPAs along the coast and a dozen out at the Northern Channel Islands. Experts consider these local Underwater Parks. It's said the Underwater Park is a national treasure just like Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks.
