SANTA MARIA, Calif. – January 16, 2014 – Dignity Health members Marian
Regional Medical Center (MRMC) and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital
(AGCH) have partnered with the Kohl’s Cares®
program to educate Central Coast
families and their children about the importance of healthy eating and exercise.
Marian Regional Medical Center and Arroyo Grande Community Hospital were
recently awarded a grant for $34,285 from Kohl’s Cares®
to improve the health
and wellness of local children by offering the Healthy for Life Wellness Program.

The objectives of the Healthy for Life Wellness Program are to teach children and
families how to make healthy lifestyle choices, how to make healthy food choices
and how to increase physical activity. The Healthy for Life Wellness Program
began in September and is a year-round nutrition education and physical activity
program offered at community centers and after-school centers in the Santa
Maria, Guadalupe, Oceano and Grover Beach areas.

The $34,285 grant was awarded to MRMC and AGCH from Kohl's Department
Stores through the Kohl's Cares cause merchandise program, and all funds have
been collected from Kohl’s stores located in the Santa Maria area. Kohl’s
commitment is made possible through the Kohl's Cares cause merchandise
program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys, with 100
percent of net profit benefiting children’s health and education programs
nationwide, including hospital partnerships such as this.
