Reader's Digest recently released its "100 Most Trusted People in America" list. To get the results, the magazine compiled a list of over 200 American opinion shapers and headline makers from 15 highly influential professions. They then polled a nationally representative sample of over 1,000 American adults, asking them to rank each person based on trustworthiness.
Check out which public figures have earned Americans' confidence and which people have proven to be the least trusted.

10. Julia Roberts
9. Melinda Gates
8. Alex Trebek
7. Bill Gates
6. Steven Spielberg
5. Maya Angelou
4. Meryl Streep
3. Denzel Washington
2. Sandra Bullock
1. Tom Hanks. The 56 year old actor is the most trusted person in America.
Tom Cruise received the lowest trust score (24%) among the male movie stars tested.
Kristen Stewart received the lowest trust score (24%) among the female movie stars tested, making her the overall least trusted movie star in America.
Lance Armstrong scored a low 11%, near the very bottom of all the names tested, despite a tell-all confession to Oprah.
Kim Kardashian also scored near the bottom of the trust list, with a low 8%.
Sarah Palin was one of the lowest-scoring politicians, with just 24%.
John Boehner also scored low at 23%.
As far as politicians go, President Obama scored 65th on the overall list of most trusted people in America.
