On Jan. 20, 1998, James Van Der Beek was introduced to the world as "Dawson Leery." Take a look at where he and his "Dawson's Creek" co-stars are today, nearly 20 years later.
Van Der Beek played Dawson Leery, a Capeside, Massachusetts, teen with a passion for movies and the girl next door, Joey Potter.
Van Der Beek went on to star in such movies as "Varsity Blues," "Texas Rangers" and TV shows like "One Tree Hill" and "Mercy." More recently he played a version of himself on the sitcom "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23." He also had a role in the 2013 movie "Labor Day" opposite Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet and starred in the short-lived 2014 sitcom "Friends with Better Lives." He currently stars in "CSI: Cyber."
Katie Holmes landed the role of Joey Potter by sending in an audition tape and wowing the show's creator, Kevin Williamson. Joey proved to be a love interest for both Dawson and Pacey Witter, played by Joshua Jackson.
Holmes has starred in movies like "Batman Begins" and "Thank You For Smoking." In 2011, she played Jackie Kennedy in ReelzChannel's "The Kennedys" and co-starred in the Adam Sandler comedy "Jack and Jill." She was also known as half of the celebrity couple "TomKat," with husband Tom Cruise, but the pair split in 2012. Joshua Jackson played Pacey Witter, the class clown who had a relationship with his teacher and ended up with Joey at the end of the series.
Jackson got his start before "Dawson's Creek" in "Mighty Ducks" and appeared in the movies "Cruel Intentions" and "Skulls" while on the show. Since 2008, he had starred in the sci-fi TV series "Fringe," which came to an end with its 100th episode on Jan. 18, 2013. He now stars in the Showtime drama "The Affair."
Michelle Williams played Jen Lindley, who moved to Capeside to live with her grandmother because of her wild past.
Williams has starred in movies like "Shutter Island" and "Brokeback Mountain," for which she earned her first Oscar nomination. She was again nominated for 2010's "Blue Valentine" and 2011's "My Week with Marilyn." She most recently starred in the 2012 indie comedy-drama "Take This Waltz" and played Glinda the Good Witch in 2013's "Oz the Great and Powerful."
Kerr Smith played Jack McPhee, who, after a brief relationship with Joey, made history as one of the first openly gay teens on a TV drama.
Smith, who got his start on "As the World Turns," also appeared in the movies "Final Destination" and "My Bloody Valentine 3D" and has had recurring roles on series like "Charmed," "CSI: NY," "Life Unexpected," "Eli Stone," "NCIS" and, most recently, the ABC Family series "The Fosters." He also starred in the 2013 indie thriller "Criticized" and the 2014 drama "Where Hope Grows."
Mary Beth Peil played Evelyn "Grams" Ryan, who raised her granddaughter Jen.
Peil followed up "Dawson's Creek" with roles on "The Stepford Wives" and "Flags of Our Fathers." She now appears on the CBS drama "The Good Wife."
Meredith Monroe played Jack's sister Andie McPhee, one of Jen's closest friends and a love interest for Pacey.

Busy Philipps played Audrey Liddel, who was a bit of a wild child and became Joey's roommate during their freshman year at college. She appeared on 46 episodes over two seasons of the show.

Mary-Margaret Humes played Gail Leery, Dawson's mother. She most recently starred in the 2014 Lifetime movie "The Girl He Met Online" and in the 2015 indie crime drama "Chasing Eagle Rock."
Nina Repeta played Bessie Potter, Joey's older sister. For years since the show ended, Repeta kept a low profile, appearing in less than a handful of roles between 2003 and 2011. However, more recently she's landed more roles, including a small part in the 2014 horror-thriller "The Remaining," providing a voice for "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water," and appearing in a 2015 episode of The CW series "The Originals."
John Wesley Shipp played Mitch Leery, Dawson's father, who died in a car crash in season five. Shipp is a veteran of soap operas, including roles on "One Life to Live," "All My Children," "Guiding Light" and "Santa Barbara." He's recently had guest roles in the TV shows "Drop Dead Diva" and "Teen Wolf." He's also had a small, recurring part in The CW's "The Flash," playing the father of Barry Allen, the titular superhero's alter ego. Shipp actually played the role of Barry Allen in the short-lived 1990 version of "The Flash."
Pacey's older sister, Gretchen, was played by Sasha Alexander. Alexander spent a year and a half as a regular on "NCIS" through May 2005 and can now be seen starring on the TNT drama "Rizzoli & Isles." She's also had recurring roles on "Presidio Med" and "Shameless."
Oliver Hudson appeared on the last season of "Dawson's Creek," playing bartender and Joey-love-interest Eddie Doling. Kate Hudson's sister and Goldie Hawn's son, Hudson went on to star in the TV series "The Mountain" and "Rules of Engagement." He's also appeared in movies such as "The Breed," "Black Christmas," "Grown Ups 2" and "Walk of Shame." He recently wrapped up a featured role on the series "Nashville" and now can be seen in the Fox series "Scream Queens."
Michael Pitt played star quarterback Henry Parker. He went on to play gangster Jimmy Darmody in the first two seasons of HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" and has appeared in the movies "Seven Psychopaths," "I Origins" and "Rob the Mob" since. He also recently had a recurring role on the TV series "Hannibal" and appeared opposite John Travolta in the 2015 indie crime drama "Criminal Activities."
Monica Keena played Abby Morgan, a Capeside troublemaker and party girl. Keena has had post-"Dawson's Creek" roles in "Freddy vs. Jason," "Entourage," "Undeclared," "Private Practice," "Castle" and, most recently, the indie movies "Isolated" in 2013 and "The Ghost and the Whale" in 2015.
Chad Michael Murray played Charlie Todd, one of Joey's many love interests and Jen's cheating ex-boyfriend. The model-turned-actor has also starred on the TV series "Gilmore Girls" and "One Tree Hill." He's also appeared in movies such as "House of Wax," "Cinderella Story," "The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia" and "Fruitvale Station." His most recent roles came in the movies "Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas" and "Left Behind" and on TV in "Texas Rising" and "Agent Carter."
Leann Hunley had a short stint during the first season of the show as Tamara Jacobs, a teacher who had a relationship with Pacey, who was one of her students. Hunley previously had roles on "Dynasty," "Models Inc." and "Days of Our Lives," the last a recurring role she played through 2010. She's also had cameos on TV shows such as "Gilmore Girls," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "NCIS" and "Raising Hope."
Jonathan Lipnicki, best known for playing the precocious kid in "Jerry Maguire," had a three-episode arc as Buzz Thompson, a 9-year-old mentored by Pacey in season three. Lipnicki went on to star in movies such as "The Little Vampire" and "Like Mike" and has had cameos in the TV series "Touched by an Angel" and "Monk." He most recently appeared in the 2013 Syfy channel movie "Bering Sea Beast," the Internet series "Ctrl.Alt.Del" and "Youthful Daze," and the 2015 indie drama "Tag."
Ali Larter ("Varsity Blues," "Final Destination" and "Heroes") had a two-episode guest role as Kristy Livingstone, a head cheerleader coveted by Pacey. Larter most recently appeared in the movies "Resident Evil: Afterlife" and "Lovesick" and starred alongside Sean Bean in the first season of the TNT series "Legends."
Jack Osbourne played a version of himself as Audrey's childhood friend during the "Dawson's Creek" gang's college years. Osbourne has recently focused on producing reality shows about his family, including "Osbournes Reloaded" and "GOD Bless Ozzy Osbourne."
Harry Shearer, one-third of "Spinal Tap" and a long-time cast member of "The Simpsons," had a two-episode guest role on "Dawson's Creek" as Principal Peskin.
