An Illinois gas station caused traffic jams over the weekend when it accidentally began charging just 1 cent per gallon of gas.

A computer glitch caused the error at the Shell station in Woodstock on Sunday, the Northwest Herald reported.

Police tried to clear traffic, but a line had already formed and only grew as word spread.

"The clerk didn't appear to be aware" of the mistake, Woodstock Police Sgt. Dennis Leard told the Herald. "We made him aware of the situation and instructed him to shut off his pumps and fix the problem."

The accidental sale lasted about two hours. It's unclear how many motorists were able to take advantage.
