A father got the surprise of a lifetime when he recently learned that his daughter, who he previously thought was dead, was actually alive and wanted to meet him.

According to WIFR, Charles Lutzow of Rockford, Ill. was told by his estranged wife that the child they conceived together 45 years ago died during child birth. But in reality, she had put their little girl up for adoption. Lutzow's estranged wife died in 2003 and never told him about the child.

Last December, their daughter, Keri Abercrombie, found her father through the Adoption Registry and Facebook and reached out to him. This week, Abercrombie, who now lives in Alabama, made the trip to Illinois to meet her father and her extended family for the first time.

"I can't even put into words I'm so excited," she told WIFR. The station captured the heartwarming moment on film.
