A man who has been charged with first-degree murder has requested that he be allowed to cover up or remove his massive neck tattoo that says "murder" before he faces a jury.

The Associated Press reports that Jeffrey Chapman is afraid the tattoo might be prejudicial if seen by a jury when he goes to trial for the November 2011 killing of Damon Galliart, whose body was found by hunters in a roadside ditch southwest of Great Bend.

Barton County's sheriff says removing the tattoo would involve transporting Chapman to a licensed tattoo facility, which is the only place for tattoo artists to practice under Kansas law.
