A 52 year old Santa Barbara Woman is in jail this evening, accused of driving drunk and killing 3 people on 101.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

The 101 southbound through Santa Barbara reopened just before 12:30 Monday afternoon as authorities investigate what they say was a deadly two car DUI accident.

Three people inside of a red Mazda were killed when a white Ford Mustang slammed into their flipped over car. What caused the Mazda to end up on its roof is not known. A fourth person inside the Mazda was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

Investigators with the California Highway Patrol released the names of the victims and people involved, by 1:30 Monday afternoon.

52-year-old Kimberly Kreis of Santa Barbara was the driver of the Mustang. She was arrested for suspected DUI and booked at the Santa Barbara County Jail.

20-year-old Erick August was the driver of the Mazda. The Los Angeles man suffered major injuries and is in critical condition at Cottage Hospital.

All three passengers in the Mazda were killed. Danielle Murillo and Jessica Leffew, both 17-years-old, were from Torrance. 20-year-old Brian Lopez of Los Angeles was the third passenger.

The Torrance Unified School District confirms two students from North Torrance High School died in the crash, but their names were not released. District officials say they were both seniors.  A crisis management team will be at the school today communicating with parents and students. The district calls it a tragic loss to the school and community.

California Highway Patrol officers say the accident happened at 12:46 a.m. and closed down the southbound lanes of Highway 101 at Castillo Street through Santa Barbara for more than twelve hours.
