4-5 acre fire near Oceano Dunes State Park

Campground evacuated, 2 suspects in custody

OCEANO, Calif. -

Cal Fire San Luis Obispo is on scene of a 4-5 acre fire near the Oceano Dunes State Park.

Cal Fire SLO said the forward progression of the fire has stopped and 2 suspects are in custody on suspicion of starting the blaze.

Emergency crews responded just before 3:30 p.m. Monday. San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Department said the small campground has been evacuated.

Cal Fire said homes are no longer threatened. One air unit remains on scene with several fire engines.

California Highway Patrol reports that westbound on Pier ave. and Highway 1 is closed.

Fire crews will remain on scene for several more hours to investigate and no injuries were reported.
