Oxnard man arrested for attempted kidnapping

An Oxnard man who police say tried to kidnap a 6-year-old girl from a mall in Ventura is under arrest. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon at The Pacific View Mall in the 3300 block of East Main Street.

VENTURA, Calif. -

An Oxnard man who police say tried to kidnap a 6-year-old girl from a mall in Ventura is under arrest.

The incident happened on Saturday afternoon at The Pacific View Mall in the 3300 block of East Main Street.

Ventura Police say 32-year-old Anthony Parish tried to grab the girl from the playground area inside the mall.

She managed to escape and alert her father who was shopping in a nearby store. Her father and mall security detained Parish as he attempted to leave the scene.

Parish was arrested for attempted kidnapping and booked into the Ventura County jail.
