Students learn consequences of driving drunk
According to the California Highway Patrol, every 15 minutes someone dies from an alcohol-related crash in the United States.
Wednesday, students at Cabrillo High School were shown what could happen if they choose to drive drunk.
The California Highway Patrol put on the Every 15 Minutes program for students. They set up a crash which showed several students injured and emergency responders trying to help them.
The idea is to make everything as realistic as possible so students will make the right decisions in life.
“This is definitely a big thing to see that you know, there are side effects if you make the wrong decision to drink and drive,” said Cabrillo High School senior Nikki Friend.
Wednesday was just part one of the demonstration. Thursday, students will attend a mock memorial service for the victims of the crash.
