Boy Found Safe After Amber Alert Issued

LONG BEACH, Calif. -

California Highway Patrol issued an Amber Alert in response to the abduction of a 12-year-old boy in Long Beach.

Officials said Monday afternoon Nicholas Johnston was found safe in Oceanside. His mother was arrested immediately.

CHP officials sent out the alert through various outlets.

Johnston was described as white, 4 feet 8 inches tall, and 80 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. CHP officers said the boy has been missing since Thursday afternoon.

The suspect has been identified by the CHP as Sri Johnston, 49, who is 5 feet 1 inch tall and 125 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

She is believed to be driving a tan, four-door Saturn with California license plate number 4AUU679.
