More than 4,000 people were without power due to a weather-related outage in Arroyo Grande Wednesday afternoon.
Pacific Gas and Electric employees expect 2,500 customers to have power restored quickly with others seeing service restored in phases through the evening hours.
Five Cities Fire was dispatched to Traffic Way in Arroyo Grande to reports of smoke and flames coming from underground in front of the 5 Cities Swim Club.
Crews found an underground transformer affected, which led to a call to PG&E.
An electrical amp was found damaged and repairs began in the mid afternoon.
Children were removed from the Swim Club pool as a precaution.
