High bacteria levels are causing some beaches to be closed

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. -

High bacteria levels have been found at some beaches that have prompted warnings to be issued. Bacteria has been found at Carpinteria State Beach, Sands Beach at Coal Oil Point, Arroyo Burro Beach, and Hope Ranch Beach.

Beach goers should stay at least 50 yards away from creek mouths and storm drains while these warnings are in effect. They should also avoid creek and lagoon water at all times.

Gaviota State Beach remains closed because of the damage from last weekend's storm.
