It was a big night for Cal Poly men's basketball as they took on Cal State Northridge in the Big West Tournament.
Downtown San Luis Obispo was ground zero for the Mustangs March Madness. Students, Alumni and fans packed bars and restaurants to watch the thrilling finale.
The fans knew it was win and make history or lose and go home.
"This is big for the school the community, the athletes, its big all around," said Martin Ponec, a Cal Poly fan.
"They've never been to the NCAA tournament and everyone in this bar is going to go, we're gonna go," said Chris Knauer.
It was a dream run by the Mustangs in the Big West Tournament with a change to punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever and keep the madness alive.
"Cal Poly is epitomizing March Madness right now," said Luke Durkin.
As the final seconds of the game with Northridge ticked off the clock, the reality began to sink in that the dream run would continue.
With a trip to college basketball's Big Dance in the bank, the celebration poured into the streets of downtown San Luis Obispo.
