Second "Hunger Games" Installment Opens Early

GOLETA, Calif. -

"Hunger Games: fans didn't seem to mind standing in line for hours to get a good seat for the second installment, "Catching Fire."

The line outside the Camino Real Cinemas in Goleta looked longer than a football field.

The best-selling "Hunger Games" trilogy will eventually be turned into four films.

Young readers said this was their favorite book.

It tells the story of how Katniss Everdeen and all the of past hunger games winners are called back for another fight to the death in an arena watched by 12 remaining colonies.

It also gives fans a chance to choose sides in a love triangle between Katniss, Gale and Peeta.

The first screening began at 8 p.m.,but will be included in the weekend box office.

Theater owners wanted to avoid midnight openings in the wake of last year's midnight movie shooting in Colorado.
