Despite Low Water Levels, Lakes Still Invite Boaters

Memorial Day weekend will kick off summer at the lakes but, some lakes say if the drought continues, this summer may be their last.
Lake Lopez is doing the best at 54% of full capacity; Cachuma Lake is at 37%, Santa Margarita is at 35%, Lake Nacimiento is at 22% and Lake San Antonio is at a mere 4% of full capacity.
All lakes say they’ll have enough water to invite boaters through summer, though levels will continue sinking.
Lake Lopez’s water surface is now at 30 feet below full capacity, and may drop another 15 feet by the end of summer
Rangers are hoping for a wet winter.
Otherwise, Lake San Antonio’s manager says “All bets are off,” for next summer.
