SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Students in an afternoon program at Roosevelt elementary school were asked to stay in the auditorium until police investigated a report of a gunman on a roof.

Santa Barbara police said it turned out to be a construction worker with a drill working just around the corner from the school and the Old Mission Wednesday afternoon.

Some parents and relatives picked up their children early after being notified by email.

The school was placed on lockdown during the investigation. They were relieved to hear it was a false alarm.
