Family Drama in Santa Maria Christmas Eve Kidnapping Case
Central Coast News is learning much more about the alleged abduction of a 21 year old girl on West Newlove Drive.
41 year old Daniel Espinoza of Salinas is accused of kidnapping and other felony charges in connection with what Santa Maria Police say was the abduction of a 21 year old woman from the 200 block of West Newlove Drive in Santa Maria on Christmas Eve.
Police say Espinoza took the young woman in his car and drove up and down Highway 101 for several hours before he was ultimately stopped and arrested.
Police say they were tipped off to the alleged abduction by a friend of the 21 year old woman who told police she used a cell phone to tell her she was being held against her will.
Espinoza was stopped and arrested later Christmas Eve night.
The 21 year old alleged victim was not hurt.
Central Coast News has learned the alleged victim in this case is in fact the daughter of Daniel Espinoza.
Both the prosecution and the defense in the case against Daniel Espinoza agreed to postpone any future hearings while both sides try to negotiate a resolution to what was and is a sad family matter.
Espinoza is being held with no bail in Santa Barbara County Jail with a federal immigration hold and will return to court next month.
Espinoza faces possible deportation regardless of the outcome of his criminal case.
