SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Flooding can occur anywhere and at any time.  That's why it's important to make sure you have a plan in place so you're prepared before, during, and after one.

National Flood Safety Awareness Week continues through March 22.

It's a reminder to make sure you know how to protect yourself, family, pets and property from floods, especially if you live in prone areas.

Remember:  it's never safe to drive or walk into floodwater as it might be contaminated or too deep to cross.

On average, flooding causes more property damage in the United States than any other weather related event.
