Four Brush Fires on Air Force Base Property

Vandenberg fire department was called to fight four brush fires on base property Friday.

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -

Vandenberg fire department was called to fight four brush fires on base property Friday.

Officials said the fires burned 7.5 acres of brush.

One strike team consisting of five engines fought the fires. A crew from the U.S. Forest Service was on the scene as is the Santa Barbara County Fire Department helicopter.

The fires were extinguished within 90 minutes and no structures were threatened. All personnel were asked to avoid the area northwest of El Rancho Road and Umbra Road due to safety considerations.

The cause of the fires remains under investigation.
