There are nearly $700,000 in special funding up for grabs in Santa Barbara County, and there's a long list of projects. The Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors will decide where the money should go in early March.

SANTA BARBARA,Callif. -

Funds collected annually from offshore oil producers are being doled out to a number of non profit groups and those working on coastal projects in Santa Barbara County.

The money goes into what's called the Coastal Resources Enhancement Fund or CREF.

They must be used for projects that offset the oil impacts in coastal waters. They include new trails, bikeways, maritime education and native plant restoration in coastal zones.

Presentations were made to the Board of Supervisors today.  A final decision on what to do with the $681,000 will be made in early March.
