Strong winds made for bad situation in Goleta, burning four homes.

GOLETA, Calif. -

Santa Barbara County and city fire crews responded to a house fire in Goleta. The fire began on the 600 block of Dara Road in the area of Kellogg Elementary School.

When crews arrived on the scene they found a fully-engulfed home on fire just before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Fire officials said three other homes close by caught on fire.

A county fire spokesperson said one firefighter was injured in the blaze and sent to the hospital for treatment.

Nearby homes were evacuated. Viewers visiting Elings Park off of Las Positas said they could see the black smoke.

Members of the Lago family lost almost everything including a home office to the award-winning CMH Landscaping business.

Juan Lago said the computer with his client list burned too.

But he is grateful his wife and daughters are OK.  They Lago family was looking for their cats, but both showed up late Wednesday night. They said neighbors bought them pizza and a local hotel gave them a reduced rate.

Red Cross workers offered them temporary housing help.

Since they rent the home and don't have renter's insurance they will have to find another place to live.
