Kids offer tips on how to stay safe this holiday.

GOLETA, Calif. -

Safety is a big concern each year with Halloween. In fact October 31st is known as the deadliest night of the year for those walking the streets, according to AAA.

Parents are advised to send kids out with a flashlight, and have them walk in groups. When it comes to costumes, look for labels that say 'flame resistant', making it hard for it to catch fire.

Adding reflective tape is ideal for making sure you and your kids are more visible on a dark Halloween night. Also be sure kids can see through their costumes, and that masks aren't blocking their vision.

As for candy, children should wait till they get home as parents should thoroughly inspect the candy, throwing out anything that's unwrapped or that looks suspicious.
