Drivers share their ways to get around it

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Holiday travelers and commuters clogging the 101 Freeway through Santa Barbara can be thankful they are not stuck in cold rain and snow, like drivers back east.

The Auto Club expects more than 43 million Americans to hit the road and travel at least 50 miles from home during the long Thanksgiving weekend.

AAA expects a slight drop from last year even though holiday gas prices are at a three-year low.

One commuter said he plans to work from home Wednesday, when traffic is expected to pick up.

Another commuter said she knows how to get around the back roads.

But travelers trying to arrive in time for turkey may have to be thankful for patience, this time of year.
