Solutions to helping at-risk youth escape gang life

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

A popular pastor known for creating what is now the biggest gang exit program in the country made his way to Santa Barbara.

Father Greg Boyle spoke at First Presbyterian church Thursday morning about helping at-risk youth find a way out of gang life.
Twenty-five years ago Boyle founded Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles. It is now the largest gang intervention rehab and re-entry program in the United States

From tattoo removals, to job training, to mental health services, Homeboy industries serves 15,000 former gang members a year. And it's all by investing in our youth.

Father Boyle says "it's important for any city to offer exit ramps off this crazy violent freeway so that gang members can walk towards some light and redirection of their lives."
