The Santa Barbara Foundation sold KDB to KCRW, which has a deal with KUSC that will, in the end, keep classical music on the air in Santa Barbara and increase local programming.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

A radio deal has been struck involving Santa Barbara's KDB FM, KCRW FM, Santa Monica and KUSC FM Los Angeles.  Local listeners will continue to hear classical music, and gain more options for National Public Radio.

KDB was sold by the Santa Barbara Foundation after weeks of entertaining offers from multiple buyers.   The station has been on the the air for 87 years. The Foundation has owned it since 2003.

The sale involves KCRW taking over 88.7 FM and KUSC operating 93.7 FM.

Both stations plan to increase their local content.

KCRW will also have office and studio space in the Antioch University Building in downtown Santa Barbara, and have an intern program with the school.

Santa Barbara listeners also have other National Public Radio choices including KCLU 102.3 FM and 1340 AM.

Complete information from the Santa Barbara Foundation can be found at:  https://www.sbfoundation.org/page.aspx?pid=1008

The announced sale is currently under  review by the Federal Communications Commission, and could be completed by summer.
