Local Woman Donates Hair to support Barbara Ireland Breast Cancer Walk

The 14th annual Barbara Ireland Breast Cancer Walk is taking place March 15. To help raise awareness, a local community leader is giving back in a big way.
Sixty-year old Janet Garufis has been waiting to do this for a long time. For 4 years she's grown out her thick silver locks down past her waist just to turn around and donate it to a cancer patient in need.
Amid television cameras and photographers at Salon Patine on upper State Street in Santa Barbara, the Montecito Bank and Trust CEO will be giving away 13 inch ponytails to a wig maker in Camarillo. Hair Couture Designs will then create a wig that will be made available at no cost to a patient at the Cancer Center in Santa Barbara.
The Barbara Ireland Breast Cancer Walk is Saturday March 15 at Chase Palm Park. Last year over $66,000 was raised for local Breast Cancer research.
