HOPE RANCH, Calif. -

Dozens of Navy Chiefs from the USS Ronald Reagan got a warm welcome at a home in Hope Ranch on Saturday.

Robert and Carolyn Duncan hosted a private luncheon for the Navy Chiefs. The sailors were treated to food, music and a great view.

Robert Duncan is a member of the Santa Barbara Navy League.  He says he has a special affinity for Navy Chiefs and hopes more people open up their homes the next time a ship comes to town.  Duncan said, "We'd love to have people offer to take a sailor home for the weekend, or take them to dinner. It's a big treat for these guys."

Commander Master Chief Spike Call says Duncan sent him an email invitation. Call says the experience is special for the crew. "It's amazing and awe inspiring. It's very different from what we're used to. Bob is a special guy."
