SANTA BARBARA , Calif. -

Within minutes of President Obama's statement that he was not ready to make a decision on action against Syria, NewsChannel 3 spoke to local residents about the simmering situation.

"It should be up to the United Nations," said Heide Happoldt. "We are up to here with war."

"It's so critical over there," said Jim Baumann outside of the Paseo Nuevo Mall. "At some point the whole place is gonna go."  He supported the war ships moving into position and the tough talk from the White House while the investigation continued into the reported Syrian attacks on innocent people.

Most residents suggested the U.S. continue to investigate the attacks, gather facts from U.N. investigators on the ground and work with other countries on a response.
