Man in custody after Santa Barbara pursuit

A man who cut off his GPS ankle bracelet led Santa Barbara Police and Santa Barbara Sheriff deputies on a foot pursuit.

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

A Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputy and Santa 
Barbara police chased, caught and cuffed a wanted 28-year-old man today.

It began around 11:30 a.m. on the 800 block of Cacique St. on the eastside. Multiple units were on the scene with officers going in and out of warehouse and business district until the suspect was found.

Manuel Acevas was taken into custody just before noon.

Investigators say he cut off the court ordered GPS tracking device earlier this month.

Acevas was on probation for grand theft.
