Driver OK after Big Rig Rollover

The driver's seat belt saved his life after he said he made a mistake and lost control.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. -

A big rig truck that overturned closed the southbound side No. 2 lane of Highway 101 Tuesday.

The accident happened just after 2 p.m. near the Gaviota Tunnel in Santa Barbara County.

Emergency crews on scene said there is a fuel leak form the truck. The driver and owner of the truck from El Centro said he was carrying a heavy load of utility wire when he hit the shoulder and over-corrected. The semi rolled over into a small ditch on the side of the road.

The driver who was wearing a seat belt said he felt blessed.

He was not hurt or cited and insurance will cover his losses.
