OXNARD, Calif. -

An apparent gas explosion in Oxnard destroyed one home and displaced 8 people Thursday morning.

Oxnard Police and Fire responded to the 1600 block of East First Street around 2:50 a.m. The fire department says the roof of one home was quickly collapsing when crews arrived. The flames spread to three homes and took about 25 minutes to put out.

The gas company arrived and turned off the gas. They are also looking to make sure no other leaks are there.

No injuries have been reported and evacuations are in effect for parts of the neighborhood.
