Plane That Crashed In Ocean Took Off From Santa Maria Airport
There's new information today regarding the plane that crashed off the coast of Oceano on Tuesday. The Santa Maria Airport general manager has confirmed that the plane took off from their runway earlier that day.
The general manager doesn't know where the plane came from before it was at the Santa Maria Airport, but it is known that the plane took off from the runway around 1:30 on Tuesday afternoon. Reports of a plane crash off the coast of Oceano came in sometime before 2 p.m.
The pilot has been identified as 63-year old David Brian Casey of Friday Harbor, Washington. According to the FAA, there was an additional person onboard the plane. No bodies have been recovered and the plane has still not been found by search crews.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department will continue the search over the weekend.
