Air Traffic Resumes After Technical Glitch

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -

Federal officials said technical issues stopped all planes from departing from the Los Angeles area for more than an hour.

Authorities said the LAX technical glitch did not greatly impact travel at the Santa Barbara Airport.

Air traffic resumed for all incoming and departing flights just after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday. Airport officials said travelers should expect hour long delays as flights get back to normal operation.

In addition, the Federal Aviation Administration said Wednesday its air traffic control facility had also temporarily stopped accepting additional flights into the airspace.

The agency says some flights were diverted as it gradually restores the system.

Officials at Burbank airport said some flights were again being allowed to take off.

No further details were immediately released.
