Police Confirm Pilot's Identity

They say the pilot who was flying the plane was 63-year-old David Casey of Friday Harbor, Washington. Rescue crews were able to make the positive identification through DNA testing. Positive Identification of 52-year-old Alan Gaynor, the passenger believed to be with Casey is still pending.

OCEANO, Calif. -

Police have confirmed the identity of the pilot who crashed off the shore of Oceano in January.

They say the pilot who was flying the plane was 63-year-old David Casey of Friday Harbor, Washington. Rescue crews were able to make the positive identification through DNA testing. Positive Identification of 52-year-old Alan Gaynor, the passenger believed to be with Casey is still pending. 

The San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Department is continuing to work closely with the NTSB and the FBI to set a date to search the ocean floor again.
