SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

A California-based company is hoping to teach students to be less reliant on plastic water bottles by providing them with a hydration station at school.

Vapur, the innovator of the reusable anti-bottle, is teaming up with the Orfalea Foundation in a sustainability effort to reduce waste and promote hydration in Santa Barbara County Schools.

"Rethink the Drink" started in 2010.  Right now, program organizers say almost all schools in the Santa Barbara and the Goleta school districts have the program underway.

Because of the success, organizers are working hard to get more schools in north Santa Barbara County involved.

"It has been great," said Kathi King of the Community Environmental Council.  "They have embraced it and they use it.  We document the uses on all the machines we put in.  And they've been used more than half a million times at this point."

The donation of 12 Vapur refill stations and 5,800 anti-bottles will go to four school districts in Santa Barbara County.
