Robbery suspect injures woman

ISLA VISTA, Calif. -

A woman was mugged near the University of California at Santa Barbara campus Thursday.

It happened at 11 a.m. in the 6700 block of El Colegio Road.

The victim said she was attacked from behind on the sidewalk. The suspect took her pink iPhone. He may have taken more but she fought back and was tackled to the ground.

The victim, who is a Latino studies fellow and dancer, injured her knee.

This is not the first iPhone robbery reported near campus. Campus police are warning students that they request an escort even during day light hours.

The Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department is investigating the crime. They ask if any one has information to please contact the UCSB Police Department at 805-893-3446.
