SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Young musicians in Santa Barbara get a special performance Friday from a Canadian violin star.

The Santa Barbara Symphony's Musical Mentors program brought Timothy Chooi to Santa Barbara Junior High to inspire students with his music.

Chooi will be the guest soloist at this weekend's symphony performance Classical Knockouts.

The accomplished musician says his main goal today was to inspire them and one of the students we talked to says he did just that.

"Hopefully be the music teacher at this school," said student musician Teresa Lusto.  "Teach other kids and have them inspired to play instruments.  Have them move on to an instrument that they typically would love to play.  And you know have them enjoy it and have me enjoy it."

The performance was worth a few million.  The violin Chooi is playing is valued at 5-million dollars.
