ORCUTT, Calif. -

A Santa Maria gang member is locked up after a chase in Orcutt. The chase prompted Joe Nightingale Elementary School to go on a brief precautionary lockdown.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputies identified the suspect as Nicholas McCloud. Deputies spotted McCloud about 9:15a.m Tuesday in the area of Courtney Street. When they tried to contact him, he took off running and stole a bike from a backyard, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.
