Santa Paula Band Recovering From Theft

Santa Paula band members have been raising money all year to perform in San Francisco at the Heritage Music Festival. Recently the school was made aware that their money was stolen, causing them to put their trip on hold.
The entire $17,000 that they raised for their competition trip is missing from the band's account. Officials are still investigating the possible theft from a member of the band's booster club. Until then, band members have fewer than three weeks to raise the money back.
Santa Paula Police Chief Steve McLean donated $500 of his own money to help the cause.
"I think this speak for the resilience of the students of Santa Paula High School as well as the community. It's wonderful even though there was a negative light shed on the program, we are going to move forward and turn this into something positive," said Elizabeth Garcia, Santa Paula High School principal.
Santa Paula is accepting donations to "The Santa Paula High School Band."
