SANTA MARIA, Calif. -

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff' Department says 29 year old Daniel Arbayo Gil ran from Gang Enforcement Unit deputies and Santa Maria Police after they spotted him standing in the middle of the 2400 block of Bentley Avenue in front of his home around 5:00pm Tuesday night.

The Sheriff's Department says deputies and officers were attempting to serve a search warrant at Gil's home for a suspected weapons violation.

Law enforcement sealed off a perimeter around the northwest neighborhood  as heavily armed deputies and officers went looking for Daniel Gil.

"My husband said there was a SWAT team out here", says Bentley Avenue resident Stacy Smith, "they moved the blockade and went to the other end of the street, after that there wasn't anything."

Somehow Gil managed to elude the law enforcement circle around him and remained on the run Wednesday afternoon.

"Its not the first time gang activity has happened in this neighborhood, and I doubt it will be the last", Stacy Smith says.

The Sheriff's Department says Daniel Gil was able to run from the neighborhood wearing only a gray pair of sweat pants and possibly carrying a gun.

"Its just mind blowing because its different with the kids and everything", says Serina Antunez who lives with her child and family around the corner from Bentley Avenue. "its scary knowing someone is dangerous out here and may come into your house, don't know what's going to go on and everything."

If you know the whereabouts of Daniel Gil, call 911 immediately or you can  make an anonymous tip by calling (805) 681-4171.
