SpaceX Launched Falcon 9 from Vandenberg

A SpaceX rocket launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base on Sunday morning carrying a Canadian Satellite that was made to track space weather.

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -

A SpaceX rocket launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base on Sunday morning carrying a Canadian Satellite that was made to track space weather.

The Falcon 9 rocket has previously launched from Florida, but the model launched Sunday is an upgraded version and the first to launch on the West Coast.

SpaceX called Sunday's launch a demonstration to test the improved capabilities of the rocket.

This launch was the third for Vandenberg this week. The base launched two Minuteman 3 tests that traveled thousands of miles over the Pacific.
