GOLETA, Calif. -

A woman is behind bars after a highway pursuit Tuesday evening. California Highway Patrol said the chase began around 4:20 p.m.

The car was swerving and almost collided into other cars on northbound Highway 101 near Mariposa Reina. It then turned around at Gaviota State Beach and headed southbound in an unsafe manner.

The driver of the Toyota was later identified as Kathryn Elizabeth Lafazan of Santa Ana, who fled from pursuing CHP officers.

An officer eventually stopped her car at the Glenn Annie on-ramp in Goleta, by using a spike strip. Once all tires were punctured, Lafazan pulled to the right shoulder on the south side of Highway 101.

She was given a DUI investigation and was taken into custody.
