SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Attendees of the 29th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) will be welcomed with specially designed Film Festival flags lining State Street from January 30 - February 9, 2014.

The visual countdown depicted in the SBIFF flag design reflects the feeling of anticipation that festival-goers will feel upon arriving in to town.

The unique flag design was created by Josh Murray.

Established in 1985, SBIFF is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching local culture and raising consciousness of film as an art form. SBIFF Barbara enjoys the distinction of being the only film festival between the Academy Award nominations and the presentation of the awards.

This year Cate Blanchett, David O. Russell, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Scorsese & Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Redford will be honored with awards from SBIFF.

Additionally, a group of actors who particularly stood out this year - Daniel Brühl, Michael B. Jordan, Brie Larson, Jared Leto and June Squibb - will be acknowledged with a Virtuoso Award.

The SBIFF line up will screen nearly 200 films from 60 countries around the world. Once again Q & A's and panel discussions add to the list of activities for attendees.

For more information about SBIFF's films and events, please visit www.sbiff.org.

The State Street Flag Program is organized by the Santa Barbara Downtown Organization.  Banners change throughout the year to highlight the plethora of events in the area.  For information on the flag program, call 805-962-2098.
