BUELLTON, Calif. -

The California Highway Patrol had to use several resources to catch a man who allegedly rammed a State Parks vehicle with a mini-van and tried to escape.

The incident started about 10 a.m. Tuesday near Refugio State Park. CHP officials said 20-year old Miguel Vasquez of Salinas, Calif. drove away from the scene in a Honda Odyssey traveling northbound on Highway 101. Officers followed Vasquez at speeds up to 100 miles-per-hour. The CHP called in a helicopter to assist in the pursuit.  Santa Maria CHP officers set up a spike strip just north of Highway 154 in the Twin Oaks area which blew out the tires. Vasquez drove for about another mile and surrendered.

There were no injuries and CHP officials have not said why Vasquez ran from the officers.
