Friends, family and other UCSB students attended a memorial for Sierra Markee-Winkler.

ISLA VISTA, Calif. -

Sierra Markee-Winkler's parents, grandmother, and other relatives joined about 100 students for a sunset memorial Wednesday at the Coal Oil Sand Reserve, owned by the University of California Santa Barbara.

Markee-Winkler, 20, was found dead on the beach about a mile away, beneath the 60-foot cliff near Del Playa Road in Isla Vista Sunday morning.

Although autopsy and investigation results aren't in, relatives are convinced the she fell to her death.

They are urging the community not to be indifferent. Six other students have died in cliff deaths since 2001.

Her father, Lon Markee said he would consider a class action lawsuit if other parents are willing to join them.

University leaders could not be reached to comment.

Isla Vista homeowners said something needs to be done to make Isla Vista a safe place for young adults.

Friends said they heard Markee-Winkler had been arguing with roommates and chose not to wait for them to go out. They said she had been drinking.

Close friends described her like Tinkerbell.  They said she loved flowers and glitter.

Glitter sparked as the sunset.  It was on the shirt of her uncles and father.

Markee-Winkler was in her second year at UCSB. She graduated high school in Grass Valley where she was a valedictorian and cheerleader.

At UCSB she had a double major and planned to attend law school after graduation.

She didn't have any brothers or sisters but she had lots of friends.

Her parents now live in Eureka, California where they plan to hold another service.
